It seems only fitting that Teacups & Turkeys Legs relaunch on the day I arrive at Walt Disney World Resort for the first weekend of the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. While the vast majority of visitors flock to Walt Disney World Resort for the characters, rides and entertainment, for me it’s all about the food. Sure, every day of the year provides endless culinary opportunities as diverse as the rides and attractions themselves, but it’s during the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival and the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival that the brilliance and expertise of the culinary team really shines. Make no mistake, I am still getting my Dole Whip in Magic Kingdom and sharing a churro with my friends, but with the addition of outdoor kitchens in Epcot offering everything from Sparkling Pineapple Wine to Beijing-style Candied Strawberries, it quickly becomes every foodie’s paradise.
Come along with me this weekend as I attempt to eat and drink my way around the Flower & Garden Festival, as well as around the parks and Disney Springs. My kids did not believe me when I said I was not intending to ride any rides on this visit (except “it’s a small world” – I can’t pass that up), but on this visit, I am definitely on a quest. My goal? Sample a dish and drink from all 13 outdoor kitchens at the festival, indulge in some chocolate at The Ganachery in Disney Springs, followed by an award winning cocktail at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar. I’m also looking forward to Korean Stir-fry Barbecue Chicken at Yeti & Yeti in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a carrot cake cookie at the Writer’s Stop in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and a waffle at Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom. Plus a nightcap at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto.
