My name is Anastasia Weis Cullen and I am a mom to three crazy busy kids, ages 14, 12 and 10, and one husband. I am a culinary trained pastry chef and former international attorney currently tackling my toughest job to date: work at home mom. I blog about topics I have a passion for, including food, food allergies, family travel and bourbon. As a dedicated foodie I love to share my favorite recipes, including allergy-friendly recipes, and much of our family travel centers around where to get the best food in whatever city we are currently discovering. I am a native of Kentucky who loves creating bourbon cocktails and sharing the beauty and history of Bourbon Country and the Bourbon Trail. While we are on a mission to discover the world with our kids, at heart I am a Disney fan and you will often find us escaping to the most magical place on earth for a dose of magic and pixie dust.
Like most families, our days are filled to the brim with school, dance, tennis, theater, art, play dates and homework, all of which I navigate while folding laundry and cleaning toilets, making dinners, and putting out any number of unexpected fires or catastrophes. Added to all that whirlwind fun, I am just starting to face the daunting task of parenting tweens and teenagers. We also are a food allergy family, and I am now “calmly” navigating my two oldest children’s peanut/tree nut allergies as they become more independent and are no longer always under my watchful eye. Every day is yet another adventure in our mad tea party life.
In a previous life I was a corporate defense attorney, for a time practicing international law in Paris, France and Geneva, Switzerland, but my true passion is the culinary arts. I am culinary school trained and owned Louisville, Kentucky’s first peanut/tree nut free bakery (Ooh La La! Bakery) and a peanut/tree nut free artisan chocolate business (Twisted Chocolat) before deciding to slow down my incredibly crazy life and focus on being a work at home mom blogging about a few of my favorite things.
One thing I have learned as my kids get older and life gets crazier – you just have to make the most of your mad tea party life.
