It’s less than one week until Christmas, but if you’re like me and scrambling at the end with shipping and wrapping times that are no longer your friend, never fear. There are so many great options out there that you can either still order in time to receive by Christmas, or even better, don’t even have to wrap at all.

I am so in love the Ninja Coffee Bar that I am on a quest to build an actual coffee bar to accommodate this appliance. I have a whole Pinterest Board devoted to coffee bars. If you need a gift for a coffee drinker, this is the gift to give. I love that I can brew a pot of coffee, a single serve cup, or even a large to-go cup, all with different brew styles and tastes. Even better, entertaining for the holidays is a breeze – I have my own personal barista in my house and can make guests almost any drink they desire, cold or hot. It’s a coffee lover’s dream come true.
Cookbooks and More for Foodies
I love reading about famous chefs almost as much as I love cookbooks. And there is no more famous a chef than Julia Child, making The French Chef in America Julia Child’s Second Act the perfect gift for any foodie this holiday season. Written by Julia Child’s great-nephew, The French Chef in America chronicles Julia Child’s years as a TV personality and cookbook author. Click the link below to purchase this charming book.
You can never go wrong with a cookbook for any inspiring chef. My favorite cookbooks at the moment? The Spice Companion A Guide to the World of Spices and Back to the Kitchen. I cannot rave enough about The Spice Companion. Spices in and of themselves fascinate me, and this cookbook not only explains the history and origin of over 100 spices, it provides recipes for spice blends, suggestions for use and culinary pairings, as well as information on where to buy and how to store each of the spices. Click the link below to purchase this book every foodie needs in their kitchen.
Back to the Kitchen is another one of my favorite cookbooks of the moment. The recipes are easy and approachable for any home chef and very family friendly. Even better, much of the book is filled with personal stories from Freddie Prinze Jr. himself, from cooking on television with Rosie O’Donnell to planning a Thanksgiving dinner with Robin Williams. This cookbook is both entertaining and filled with recipes my family loves. Click the link below to purchase this lovely cookbook.
I’m old school also and like to have the actual book to page through and really enjoy, although you can easily gift the Kindle version of any of these books.
I almost always wear an apron when I am cooking or baking. Invariably I splash or spill something on myself and have been known to ruin quite a number of nice pieces of clothing. Most of my aprons are ones friends or family have given me and each has a special meaning because of who gave it to me. Aprons are great gift for any chef, experienced or just beginning, and with hundreds of styles to choose from, Flirty Aprons is the go-to resource for aprons for the whole family. Last Minute Gifts for Family Travelers
A Travel Wish Organizer
I love this book and believe it is the perfect gift for any family that loves to travel. A “where do we want to go” organizer it can be used by an entire family to keep track of all the places they want to go together, and help them plan their next trip. Or give it to your own family and start planning your adventures for the new year.
Portable Printer or Instamax Camera
Family travel is all about making memories to last a life time, and there is no better way to capture those memories as they happen than with a portable printer or instant camera. There are different brands out there, some easier to come by than others. I have a portable printer for my IPhone and love the ease and convenience of it. I have not used this Polaroid version but it is highly rated. We also have the Fuji Instax Mini Instant camera. Both of these products print 2 X 3 photos instantly. So many times when travelling with my family I take zillions of pictures but rarely even get 20% of them developed. leaving all of our precious memories somewhere in the black hole of my computer. But not any more – next trip I can print on the spot and have those memories in hand when we all return from our trip. Looking for a gift for a family that loves to travel and is always off to the next adventure? An instant camera or portable printer is just what they need to record all their special memories.
A travel journal is the perfect complement to an instant camera or portable printer. With both of these items, any travelling family will have everything they need to catch and record memories as they happen along their adventures. Even without the portable printer or instant camera, a travel journal helps record memories in real time. These are a couple I like, although gifting the supplies to make a DIY Family Travel Journal is also a great idea.
1000 Places to Visit Before You Die
No travel gift list is complete without this book. We have several editions of this book and love to read it both to plan trip, make wish lists, and just learn about places around the world we’d love to visit. This is a gift any traveler will enjoy.
Last Minute Gifts for Bourbon Lovers
Monthly Bourbon Subscription from Mouth.com
What bourbon fanatic wouldn’t want a different bottle of craft bourbon delivered to his/her door every month? I even live in Bourbon Country itself here in Louisville, Kentucky and I LOVE this idea. So much so I am gifting it to my husband for Christmas this year (and of course I get to enjoy a bit of it also ;)). Mouth.com offers a craft bourbon subscription service available to gift from 3-6-9-12 months, or order for yourself and pay on a monthly basis. Ranging from $74 to $56 a month depending on the number of months you choose, this is an ingenuous way to try new craft bourbons.
Bourbon Cocktail Glasses
I’m all for a nice bourbon on the rocks in a rocks glass, but I REALLY love a nice bourbon cocktail, and for a good bourbon cocktail you have to have a bourbon cocktail glass.
You can choose ones like these retro designed champagne coupes from the Paris – I have these and love the design and height of the glass. Plus I used to live in Paris so they hold a bit of nostalgia for me. Bourbon cocktails look fantastic in these glasses.
I also have a set of these cocktail coupes, and love the design and price point of these glasses.
Every bourbon aficionado needs some reading material to stay up to date on the latest trends in the bourbon world. One of my favorite magazines? The Bourbon Review. It’s published locally in Lexington, KY and full of news and recipes.
Bourbon Cocktail Book
I’ve gotten used to drinking bourbon on the rocks, but my first love will always be a bourbon cocktail. I love the following two bourbon cocktail books – written by locals here in Bourbon Country, they are truly authentic and the best collection of recipes I have seen. Order one or the other, or better yet, order both.
Bourbon Barrel Foods Products
Want to really impress the bourbon lover on your holiday list? Send a collection of Bourbon Barrel Foods sugars, spices, salts and other gourmet food items. All items from Bourbon Barrel Foods are handcrafted in Louisville, KY. Reclaimed bourbon barrels from Kentucky bourbon distilleries are used as a smoking and aging agent, giving Bourbon Barrel Foods products a unique and distinct flavor. I have used these products for over 10 years and have even developed certain recipes around particular Bourbon Barrel Foods products. A few of my favorites are:
In addition to these items, look around in your local area for some great gift ideas you can grab last minute. Cooking classes are always a wonderful option. Or how about a wine (or if you can find it, bourbon) dinner at a local restaurant? And who says family travel has to be beyond the limits of your hometown? What about a staycation and gift certificates to some local sights and attractions?
